The Art of Christmas

After a lot of studying, journaling, and planning,

I picked a project for 2013, the Year of the Snake.

A picture book for all ages that is tentatively titled:

"The Art of Christmas: An Illustrated Journal of Little Joys"

Five "chapters," all pages of watercolor and ink illustrations,
approximately 42 pages, possibly printed through CreateSpace.

I'm following the structure of a traditional children's picture book,

beautifully explored in the three volume set by Eve Heidi Bine-Stock.
Next step?  Rough lay-outs for each page.

Knit Art

Organizing Work

Trying out an organizational scheme for my art: a mix of

information incorporating:  media, format, theme/idea,

event, location, activity, people/characters,

 time/space, and/or purpose.

Watercolor pencil, journal excerpt, stained glass, fruit.

Sensory Engagement

Art engages us in wondering what came before,

whats happening now, and what comes next.

Imagining the taste of the avocado with lime, the textures,

the smells, and what they can do together.

Food Parts

Analyzing the best part of favorite foods...

Spinach, salsa, sour cream.

Macaroni and olives.

Carrots, corn, and more.

Rebuilding fruit and veggie components into works of art.

Delectable design.

Book Design

My ideal book format?  Journal size with plenty of images.

A paper-back picture book for adults.

Comfort Food

Food that is almost as much fun to draw as it is to eat.

Beautiful parts of a delicious assemblage.
